Bishop of Lindi,Tanzania

Rt. Rev. Wolfgang Pisa was born on 6 July 1965 at Karatu, Arusha region.

He joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in 1990 and professed his temporary vows in 1992.

He attended St. Bonaventure College, Franciscan Formation House from 1992 to 1995 and proceeded to study theology at Jordan University College (Salvatorians, Morogoro, Tanzania) from 1995 to 1999. He made his solemn vows on 15 August 1998 and was ordained priest on 1 September 1999 by bp. Jude Thaddeus Ruwa’ichi.

  • He has been Lecturer and Formator in the Maua Minor Seminary of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, at Moshi (1999-2000: 2003-2005)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Development studies and Geography, at the University of Dar-es-Salaam
  • then Rector of the Maua Minor Seminary, at Moshi (2005-2008).

He began studies in Moral Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2009-2011); and was elected Minister Provincial of the Friars Minor Capuchin in Tanzania (2011-2017); and returned to complete the Licence in Moral Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2017-2019).

Back in Tanzania he was assigned to Kibaigwa Parish, Archdiocese of Dodoma (2019-2020), then Assistant Parish Priest of Kwangulelo Parish and Lecturer at St. Augustine University in Arusha.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Lindi on 9 April 2022 and was ordained by Archbishop Beatus Kinyaiya at Lindi on 26 June 2022.
