A Brief Introduction of the Order Of Friars Minor Conventual.

The Order of Friars Minor Conventual is a community of men who are consecrated in obedience, without anything of their own and in perfect chastity for the sake of Christ and His Gospel. It springs from the Franciscan First Order founded in 1209. The Conventual friars follow the Rule of life of 1223 as the ideal of St. Francis of Assisi, an Italian who moved by Jesus Christ, left the world of affluence and sought to follow the path of the wretched that lived among the lepers of his hometown. The Constitutions guide the lives of the friars in their day to day engagements within the community, the Church, and the world. In Africa the Order is located in East, Central and West Africa where the common bond of fraternity thrives. A way of life characterizes the duties the friars partake in their various jurisdictions united under a Minister General who resides at the Twelve Apostles friary in Rome. In the friary, the friars participate in the daily Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist. Living among the poor and the rich alike the friars live in community, in Ecclesiastical support of the Holy See, guided by the Holy Spirit and their Statutes. Together with their brothers in various parts of the world the Conventual friars in Africa aim at bringing Christ to human lives.
